Security Awareness Training for all Seafarers

This course is intended to provide the knowledge required to enable personnel without designated security duties in connection with a Ship Security Plan (SSP) to enhance ship security in accordance with the requirements of chapter XI-2 of SOLAS 74 as amended, the ISPS Code, and section A-VI/6-1 of the STCW Code, as amended.

Programme Content

Topic 1:  The meaning and the consequential requirements of the different security levels
Topic 2:  Knowledge of emergency procedures and contingency plans
Topic 3:  Recognition and detection of weapons, dangerous substances and devices
Topic 4:  Recognitions, on a non-discriminatory basis, of characteristics and behavioural patterns of persons who are likely to threaten security
Topic 5:  Techniques used to circumvent security measures.

Qualification gained

On successful completion of this course and demonstration of competence you will be issued with a certificate certifying you have met the standards required in STCW Section VI/6 Table A-VI/6-1 and the requirements of STCW 1978 as amended, Section A-III/1.

Please note that course completion certificates will not be issued until we receive the following,
  • Valid Maritime NZ id
  • Passport image
  • Payment of program fees
