Primary Industry Skills - Seafood

This programme is aimed at those new to the fishing/seafood industry. It gives students the skills they need to be confident when they take their first voyage on a fishing vessel and to process seafood under supervision. The programme develops the specific knowledge and practical skills to be successful in an industry which demands high levels of physical fitness, awareness of safety and hygiene requirements, and an ability to effectively co-exist with others in what can be a testing environment.

Programme Content

US 31656:  Demonstrate knowledge of safe work practices in a primary industry operation
US 5328:   Identify and assess characteristics of seafood quality
US 53322:   Demonstrate knowledge of and use hygienic work practices while working with seafood
US 6204:    Weigh and label packed seafood product 
US 6213:    Demonstrate knowledge of and use safe work practices in the seafood industry
US 15656:  Demonstrate basic knife skills to cut seafood product
US 25945:  Demonstrate knowledge of, and maintain, a safe work area whilst working with seafood product
US 31496:  Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning and sanitation, and clean and sanitise a seafood work area

Additional information

This is Fishing Cadet program, and an interview is required if you wish for us to assist you into employment in the NZ Seafood Industry.
There are specific heath, and criminal conviction checks that need to be completed prior to acceptance on this program.
