Learning Objectives


On successful completion of this course students should be able to contribute to the enhancement of maritime security through heightened awareness and the ability to recognize security threats and to respond appropriately .  This knowledge includes the following
  • Knowledge of maritime conventions and codes, responsibilities and terminology
  • The meaning and the requirements of the different security levels
  • Identification, recognition and response for the different types of security threats
  • Recognition and detection of weapons, dangerous substances and devices
  • Techniques used to circumvent security measures
  • Recognition on a non-discriminatory basis of characters and behavioral patterns of person who are likely to threaten security
  • Knowledge of security related emergency plans and drills

Course Overview

This online program is aimed at providing awareness of ships security issues and will increase you ability in understanding and managing threats to your vessel.

On successful completion you will receive an STCW Seafarer Security Awareness Certificate.
The training meets the requirements of STCW Section VI/6 Table A-VI/6-1 and the requirements of STCW 1978 as amended, Section A-III/1.

Assessment

This online program includes a written assessment which will be marked by WDSFS.
