WDSFS is pleased to be the leading provider of new entrants into the NZ seafood and maritime industry. We operate a drug and alcohol free residential programme to provide the training and sense of community that is required to be successful at sea in our industry.
We operate a residential programme in Westport, offer a New Zealand certificate in Primary Industry skill at level 2 (42 credits) and builds that first step to a career at sea. Our programs are fully funded by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) for this entry level qualification and subject to academic criteria.
We offer several intakes a year, further training if chosen to build that career pathway.

The level 2 Seafood Processing Program is fully funded by the TEC. There are no training costs, you may also be eligible for a discount on the student accommodation fee. Please ask during your interview.

The Westport Deep Sea Fishing School is approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority under section 249 of the Education Act 1989, and Westport Deep Sea Fishing School Ltd is accredited to provide it under section 250 of the Act.
